In case of photography the steam is not just water that has changed into vapour but actually it is the emotion of whole scenario.
To get started Tea and Coffee Photography
The most essential things you would need to get started are obviously some amazing coffee or tea, a good coffee mug, a very dark tone background which is very much near to dark coffee brown shade then a powerful source of light (for more natural look for window light).
Start preparing your java. Till the time coffee boils, you have got the time to prep your camera and ready. This time we recommend you to go for either a 35mm, 50mm, or 85mm lens. For the situation where a photographer is actually capturing steam, its very important to choose your lens wisely otherwise you will never get the result as you expected. Now switch your camera to manual mode, this will be your saviour if you are capturing steam.
Check whether your coffee boiling hot enough or not then pour the coffee or tea into your favourite light shade mug. Take mug full of coffee to kitchen table, place it near a window that has a good source of light. Now take your angle in way where the coffee mug is facing against a full dark background.
When Setup is Ready:
Place your focusing point on the top of the mouth of coffee mug. As you want to grab all the attention of the viewer on the steam and remember nobody likes to see blurry image of steam. Now the time has come to check and select exposure. You can either shoot with a perfectly balanced exposure in accordance to light meter or simply get a little underexposed. We are providing you the base of settings, you can choose whatever the setting you want to get best result.
To get your desired results choose the higher shutter speed you put your shutter speed to 1/250th or even higher. And if you want to get some fantastic result then shoot wide open. Slower shutter speed will end up capturing cloudy image instead of sharp image. You can also go out and try some outdoor space such as garden, coffee shop, riverside or cafe to get the natural essence of coffee.
